Reed Walters was born in Pascagoula MS and the family later moved to Laurel in 1985.

He graduated from Northeast Jones in 1988 and attended J.C.J.C. and graduated with a degree in horticulture from Mississippi State University.

Reed taught in the public and private schools for fifteen years and is currently home schooling and has started a ministry for people who suffer from mental illness.

He is also a singer/songwriter and currently has a gospel CD out with his brother Russell Walters.

Reed is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and participates in Civil War reenactments.

Topics for discussion for the January 28, 2017 meeting will include the Walters Family in Jones County Mississippi and their role in the Legend of the Free State of Jones, The Civil War Soldier and maybe some discussion about his music.

The meeting will be held at the Laurel Jones County Library, 530 Commerce Street, Laurel MS, and will begin at 10 a.m. in the upstairs meeting room.
